Hi folks,
This may be a noob question but I'm new to DVD authoring. I've downloaded the trial and am currently using DVD MovieFactory 4 and the DVD slideshow feature.
Background:
I have around 3,000 pictures of the family that I had wanted to put on a DVD, with a simple menu organized by year. Pretty simple. I proceeded to create a project, adding photos to each one of the years. After that, I burned it at 8x onto a Sony DVD-R.
Problem:
On one of my home DVD players, it showed the menu fine and allowed me to navigate between the 4 different years. As soon as I clicked a year, it hung. I had to manually open the tray. After multiple attempts, the same thing. Tried in my 2nd home DVD player. This time, it showed "Disc Loading" on the screen and stayed there forever (about 10 mins). After this, I tried both computers DVD players and both worked. Am I missing something? Is it the whole DVD encryption business?
Data:
Program: DVD MovieFactory 4
Media: Sony DVD-R (rated up to 8x)
Burned: 8X
Toshiba DVD Player: Menu + Navigation + hang on selection
Apex DVD Player: Disc Loading and never returns control
Dell Laptop DVD Player with Intervideo WinDVD: Perfect
LG DVD Player with PowerDVD: Perfect
Any help? Sorry for the mountain of data but I figured I would try to cover the obvious next questions up-front.
Thanks for the help,
Shawn
Computer DVD Player vs. Standalone DVD Player?
I don't know if this has anyting to do with your problem, but not all stand-alone DVD players can play "burned" DVDs.
DVD-R is the most compatible, but you might try a +R. If you have the owner's manuals for your DVD players you can check to see if they are supposed to play these.
Or, if your players are listed on the VideoHelp.com compatibility list, you can find out what formats they work with.
