MSP 8 Is it worth the upgrade?

Post by kingfisher »

I have downloaded MSP 8 Trial version. I currently use MSP 7 having started from MSP 5. It is a program I have got the hang of & find the editing system & effects supplied very good & useful.
Being playing with MSP 8 & the new look, looks great. The change in the way you access different functions all adds to its new interface.
However apart from the inclusion of HDV. Which I don`t actually need as I don`t have a HDV cam.
and
Smart compositor. I suppose it has its uses but what else is there to get me to upgrade. The cost of which is not that much less than the full product.
Some of the other changes to the effects/moving pic etc editor looks to me to as enhancements to the existing editor found in MSP 7.
What the views so far :?:

Main Reason to upgrade:

1. Nested timelines and Virtual Clips.
2. Transition on all tracks
3. 5.1 Audio Encoder
4. Moving Path settings in the Preview Window
5. Color Correction Filter
6. New Titler (with multy-layer capabilities..)
and so on..

Is it enough ?

Above all, a 5000% increase in flexibility. I'd never go back. After a month or so of beta testing, I had to go back to a 7.3 project. It felt like a step back into the dark ages :-(

In addition to what's already been mentioned, there's also:

- Auto Music (nice selection of many different musical styles to choose from -- you give it a length, and it will generate the music track)
- Auto-save gives you better backup/recovery than previous versions
- Effects Manager for better control of all your Effects
- Better communication of DVD Chapter Points between MSP and their DVD Authoring Application
- Included DVD Authoring offers Menu Customizations (Thumbnail and Text sizing and positioning)

Here's a link to What's New

imho, this is simply THE BEST version of MediaStudio Pro ever :D

and to me, the package remains relatively intuitive

You forgot one big improvement....

DV to MPEG-2 DVD encode speed is improved with MSP8 over MSP7.3
Thus renders are faster.

If you wait for "teething problems" to resolve then no editor on the market would qualify for purchase right up to the day they're replaced by another version :-P
