Does MF3 always re-encode if you cut off only end of clip ?

Just wondering why MF3 would re-encode the project if all you
do is "cut" the last minute of a file out ?

I could see maybe if it had to "stitch" 2 files together if you cut a center portion out, but just taking the end off seems as though maybe it wouldn't need a re-encode. My projects don't ever get re-encoded unless I try a "cut" (at the end).

Is there some other way to do this ? VS8 seems to do the same thing...

I'll leave the cutting (or merging) to Videoredo. Very fast and no audio-sync hic-ups. The final clip never gets re-encoded by MF 3.X

Thanks for the tip - Just hoping to cut down on the number of apps in my
"toolbox". Looks like I need to add one more though.
