Videostudio 9 crashing during rendering

Hi there

I have a similar problem. Captured a mpeg-2 file- no problem. File size is about 3 GB. When I try to render the fiel with the "same as project" settings it renders the first 43min of the project and then crashes.

The problem started appearing after installing the service pack for VS9 - I think. I then installed VS7 and VS8 with the same problem.

I have done 10 movies the previous 2 weeks without any problem and after the update the problem started. It sounds like it's not really related only to VS9 but the others as well.

I'm running XP SP2 with ATI AIW radeon.

I have tried everything that I could think off. Please give ideas.

Sorry I forget, VideoStudio crashes in uvSEPA.dll.

I wasn't too keen on shortening my project to see if that worked and I had so many transitions and titles, it would have been impossible to pinpoint which one may have been causing problems. So I decided to try another brand of video editing software and tried a trial burn a little way into it and encountered exactly the same problems as I mentioned above.

This led me to another forum on video editing and one of the tips I found was to take the sides off my PC as overheating can cause this error. I didn't have much faith in this advice but did it anyway because I was desperate. Since doing this I have been able to burn straight to disc, create DVD files and create an MPEG-2 file of my project. Strange but true.

Cheers,
Mark

Sorry, I've already provided all the ideas I have - if you choose not to read them then there isn't much I can do.

From what you say about your suspecting it isn't VS9 but occurs in the "others as well" then that just adds weight to my theory - that there is something in the way you have put this particular movie together which is causing VS9 to crash. So you really have to troubleshoot your movie.

I'll bet if you load one of your earlier movies and re-render them they will work as they originally did - without a single problem. My suggestion (from the evidence) is that there is something in this particular movie that is triggering a bug in VS9 - and it is up to you to find it, we can't do it for you.

So if you really want to try something to help yourself, please read my earlier post(s) in this thread and give the suggestion a go - you might be pleasantly surprised! :-)

Best of luck,
Peter
