MSP8: activation code or unlock code?

Post by chtchege »

The question is about the nature of the procedure to unlock the 30-day copy of MSP8. I would like to know if it is just an unlock code I've been provided with or an activation code (the difference being the unlock code can be used any time with your downloaded copy, while the activation code can only be used once).
I've already "activated" my copy, and the process required some 10-15 seconds and there was a network data exchange during these 10-15 seconds. So it looks like the code I've been given is in fact an activation code and it will be useless in case I uninstall MSP8 and then re-install it again (using the same downloaded copy). And what would happen if my PC hadn't got any Internet connection (it's just a pure chance I was connected during the 'activation'; normally my video editing PC is not connected to the Internet at all).
I know, these questions are more for Ulead officials than for users, but anyway... I'm just curious...

Hi
The first time the word "activation" came in I asked the question in another forum, but did get no answer.

And I'am also curious for 2 dif reasons:

1. - THe need to have an internet connection, which in my case doesn't happen for the computer I user for editing;

2. - If it is an "activation" à-La-MS, wich are the condition for keeping it valid if you change the hardware?

3. - If you activate you copy in you main workstation are you able to have a second on in a notebook or at you home desktop? Even if restrictions apply? Adobe allows this, for instance.

4. - If you have your copy in one machine and you need/want to transfer it to another one (upgrade, for instance), how will it work?

I don't agree with these methods but information is necessary before you put you money out, and Ulead looks at the forums ( as it is supposed to) I think we deserve some kind of clarification.

I have a Nikon software "Nikon Capture" that uses the word activaction and this means only inserting your key code, nothing more.
