If you have stacks of paper and downloaded the full version there is also a full manual on Ulead's website;

http://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Manual/msp8/me ... _guide.zip

Charlie Hills is the author of the excellent "Getting Results" series of tutorials for Ulead products. He's working on a full tutorial on MSPro 8, but that's quite a job so it isn't ready yet.

That said Charlie has posted a freebie "Getting reoriented" tutorial for MSPro 7 users here;

http://www.getting-results.com/news/msp8.php

Though it's for users of previous MSPro builds there is info to be gleened for new MSPro users as well.

Other info resources are here, the Ulead User to User forum and.....

Digital Media Net MSPro forum;

http://www.dmnforums.com/cgi-bin/displa ... =30&dire=4

Creative Cow MSPro forum;

http://forums.creativecow.net/cgi-bin/n ... forumid=10

MURC Desktop Video forum;

http://forums.murc.ws/forumdisplay.php?f=7

all of which are hangouts for the MSPro betatesters. In these forums you'll see many questions asked and answered as well as tutorials posted on a per-topic basis.

DON'T BE SHY!! The only stupid question is the one that goes un-asked.

I'd only use Proxy mode for HDV or other such high resolution sources. If this is the case then there are both 16:9 (widescreen) and 4:3 (standard screen) DVD Proxy templates.

If you're editing non-HDV video then there are already DV and MPEG/DVD presets for PAL resolutions and they won't require the creation of proxies.

Using these presets with sources of the same properties will also allow for Smart Rendering; meaning when you export to the project settings (ex: PAL DV) only the parts of the project with added effects (overlays, titles etc.) will be recompressed. The rest will just be copied unchanged. This speeds up things quite a bit.
