Hey there,
3 year old user of Photoimpact, been using it for a long time.
I'm thinking of buying an upgrade to version 10.0 but since day one i've always had this concern.. what if they stop hosting/die/or otherwise kill the site with the "smart download" toys?/ masks templates etc.??
Can we back these up onto a cd and somehow re-import them into photoimpact upon reinstall of our photoimpact software?
Any way this is doable? Anotehr thing, when you buy the box set (which i probably will anyway).. do the smart downloads come with it, or are you still stuck downloading 500MB?

re: Backing Up Photoimpact Goodies
If you buy PhotoImpact online, you'll download the main installer separate from the main goodies. In case "Smart Download" does not work, you can always manually download it from Ulead's server. You can get the additional components from this site: http://www.ulead.com/pi/esd.htm
Then once you get the additional compoents installers, you can back them up together with the main installer.
For the boxed or retail version, it already comes with all the additional components so you won't have to download anything extra except probably for update patches. The boxed version comes with two cds for the main program and some bonus stuff like the video tutorial and some plug-ins.
