MSP8 includes DVD MF 4 ... full or LE?

Post by Karlos »

http://www.ulead.com/msp/compare.htm

indicates DVD authoring built-in to MSP 8, and the MSP 8 user manual PDF has pages on DVD Movie Factory.

So, the question is (belongs on the product pages IMHO): is it indeed DVD Movie Factory 4 that is included with MSP 8 ... and if so, is it an "LE" version (as was the case with DVDMF 2 LE with MSP 7), or the full version?

Curious.

I never understood the reasoning behind supplying a toy DVD authoring program with a professional editing program.

Does Videostudio come with DVD Workshop?

When I run the program and the about Movie Factory it is listed Version 4.2, not a LE version.

The DVD Authoring and other programs are in the Content Pack, it has to be installed to get everything.

I had not installed the Content Pack and couldn't find Movie Factory, after installing the Pack everything is there.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, tyamada. Good to know!

Yeah, sillyname, I agree about shipping consumer components with a pro product. But, its better to offer this low-cost option with the option to upgrade than to force everyone into a pro suite solution, I think.

(My complaint (elsewhere here) is that the suite upgrade with DVD Workshop is not priced advantageously for existing users, only new ones.)

Thanks again,

DVD Movie Factory 4 downgraded

Post by kevinc »

I use DVD MovieFactory 4 Disc Creator, because I don't need all the bells and whistles of DVD Workshop. Once I installed the MSP 8 Content it actually DOWNGRADED my DVD MF4 from the latest patched version (DVD MF4.3) to DVD MF 4.0 and is definitely some kind of crippled, basic version.

I reinstalled DVD MF4 on top of that and it's working again...

Still, it's annoying that the install program for MSP 8 didn't (a) automatically recognize that DVD MF4 is already installed, or (b) simply give me a choice to install DVD MF4 or not.

I had Disk creator ver 3 installed when I installed MSP 8, and there was no installation of movie factory, I uninstalled v3, and reinstalled the extra content, still no movie factory, then I unpacked the zip file and ran the setup. Now I have disk creator 4.2

My mistake, it was there, under the root msp8 folder, but no shortcut is created, you have to go and look for the .exe manually.

I have DVD MF2. It has far more options than the copy of DVD MF4 that is contained within MSP8.

One example: A DVD I authored some time ago but hadn't got round to watching contained 4 episodes of a TV program. I came to watch it a few nights ago and noticed that one of the episodes had some out of synch sound so I wanted to import the episodes back into one of my editing programs to rectify the problem.

Lo and behold no import from DVD in MF4 but there it was in MF2.

In MSP8, the DVD capture is much improved, but it's in the Video Capture module, not the authoring module.

Might have just been bad luck but I tried using the DVD Capture plug in within MSP8 and it wouldnt read my home made DVD.
That's when I resorted to my other collection of programs.
The one that turned out to work best was DVD MF2.
Just shows it pays to keep old versions sometimes.
