I am unable to create a DVD with audio. I have tried a couple of different alternatives to try and determine what the problem is without success.
I can successfully capture video with the accompanying audio, select the clips I want and play them back (with audio). I've tried both video capture through the Belkin USB 2.0 DVD creator and also from a DVD.
In the case of the DVD this was burned using a Panasonic DMR E85H (HDD +DVD recorder), the DVD plays OK in WMP with audio but the clip doesn't. The audio file on the original DVD is Dolby 3/2 and the clip also has Dolby 3/2 as the audio format.
After creating the DVD files I play them using WMP but there is no audio. I haven't tried burning a DVD yet but I shouldn't see this as necessary since WMP supports Dolby 3/2.
This is really frustrating, can anyone help?

No audio on DVD in Videostudio 9

Thanks for the link it was quite useful.
I used share to create the DVD folders, these are the settings
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 576, 25 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-PAL), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 9578 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)
With these settings I get no audio when I play the folder using WMP.
If I change the audio setting to LPCM audio and then create the DVD folders I get audio in WMP.
I spoke to the Technical Help desk at Ulead who suggested changing the audio settings but could offer no explanation for why Dolby doesn't work.
I wonder if either VS or WMP has become corrupt and re-in stalling might fix the problem.

Hi
I am certain that at one time I could not play AC 3 using WMP
There is a free download for an ‘AC 3 filter’ that allows playback but does not re-code.
ac3filter_1_01a_rc5.exe
Try this link
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ac3filter.
I think I installed this and WMP worked with AC3(digital dolby)
Also have you tried to play back using Real Player
Hope this Helps

I couldn't successfully download from the link you gave me. Each time the zip folder was said to be corrupt. I did find via Google another AC3 filter that was free of nasties - ac3filter_1_01a_rc1. It seems to have solved the problem. I don't quite understand why it is needed perhaps you can explain the mysteries of WMP to me.
Many thanks
David
