Help, I cannot get MSP v. 7 upgrade to install

Post by Steve Broesder »

I currently have v. 6.5 on my computer. I ordered the upgrade from Element5 as a download. I followed the install process until I receive the following error message:

Unhandled Exception
Error Number: 0x80040707
Descripiton: Dll function call crashed: ISRT.Addlcon

Then the install process ends. Even though I watched the files unpack, there is nothing in the MSP 7 directory. I have uninstalled v. 6.5, then re-installed it and re-did the upgrade,.....same error message.

I have attempted to contact Ulead, but they will not respond in their support section. Everytime I attempt to send a question, support rejects my name and password even though I am registered with Ulead. I have asked for a "forgot password" response, but I never receive an email. My wife has suggested we call our credit card company and cancel the charge, but I really want this program.

I am open to any comments or advise.
Thankyou

Steve, it sounds to me like you have a corrupt registry which is preventing the installation. This is not an easy one to fix and (I'm guessing here) would be beyond the ability of most of those on this board who are concerned with their video products rather than system related problems.

I found this reference by doing a Google search on that error code and it will give you an idea of what's likely the problem -

Code: Select all

It's getting into a pretty complex area and I'm afraid I can offer no assistance other than to suggest you seek out help from a good PC Software Support person.

As I say, this appears to be a registry problem with your PC which is preventing your software from installing correctly. Not a problem with the software itself.

I wish you luck.

Help with upgrade from 6.5 to 7

Post by Steve Broesder »

Chris,

Thanks for responding. I am going to check to see if this is a registery issue. I put the error message on Google, and found a work around.
1. unpack the upgrade until I receive the error message.
2. Then go to the Ulead MSP 7 directory, copy it to a new location
3. then click "ok" on the error message
4. move the copied MSP back into its orginal directory.

This worked.

I did notice that the program now does not show a serial number. I figure one step at a time. Also I cannot upgrade to 7.3, but I'll also work on that.

Chris, thanks again, I like this group.

Well done. As you say, further ways to go yet but at least you're making some progress. I use MSP7 and it's a great product.
