May I remove an earlier version after upgrade?

May I remove an earlier version after upgrade?
I just downloaded an upgrage to PI 10 and still have PI 6. Given the large files involved, I would like to know if I can, (or should) remove PI 6 now, say via windows "add/remove programs".

PhotoImpact 10 upgrade only needs an older version to verify that you indeed qualify for the upgrade. But it installs an entirely new set of program files independent of the old version. So you can remove PI 6.0 safely.

I don't want to doubt you 2log, but are you sure you can completely delete the older version after an upgrade? I had a real problem between versions 7 and 8 and had to have both of them on my hard drive for version 8 to work correctly.
I do want to get the latest version, but because of this past problem I wonder if I'll have the same problem and wasted disk space.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, but this is for an upgrade. If I uninstall the old version I know I won't be able to install the upgrade. That is unless I install the old version first and then install the upgrade again. That is what I had to do last time. I would like to have only the current upgraded version on my computer and delete everything from the old version after the upgrade.

You can uninstall the old version prior to upgrading also. All you normally have to do is to point the installation program to the location of the setup.exe file of the previous version, usually on a CD or floppy.
That's how I install all my programs after my frequent rebuilts of my PC. My PI 10 is an upgrade and so is my MSP 7. No need to install all the previous versions. I would have to install PI 6 first, the only full version, then the upgrade to 8 or XL and after that the upgrade to 10.
