MSP 8 Pro Suite Pricing
Is it just me, or does the pricing for upgrading from MSP 7 to MSP 8 just not make any sense?
Take the Video Production Suite - MSP 8 and DVDW2 - for $499 for a brand new user.
As an existing MSP 7 user, I can upgrade to MSP 8 for $249.99 and upgrade to DVDW2 for $199 ... for a total of $448.98 ... a whopping savings of $51 compared to a brand new customer. Big whoop.

Moving from Beta to Trial...ALSO-MSP8 Academic?
First of all, I was experimenting with MSP8 Beta and was working a project in there that I'd like to keep going if I can. I'd like to continue it in the trial MSP8 to see some fixes and new features until I actually get around to buying the full product. What must I do to make sure all files transfer correctly? Is it just a simple install and everything will be right where it should be?
In addition...does anyone have any idea if it's possible for a student, with ID, to order the product at some academic rate?
Thanks all for help finding stuff in the Beta, I do look forward to getting at the full version soon!

Congrats on the release of MSP8. Some nice new features in there too. I have comments on the price and such.. but rather than be repetitive.. anyone who cares to can check out my comments in the "MSP8 COMMENT AND A QUESTION thread. Plus you can say Hi to Tobie that real nice guy from the Ulead Marketing Dept.

I placed an order for Ulead StudioQuartet yesterday, and it comes with MediaStudio Pro 7. However, they have not shipped the package yet. I am wondering if I will be able to get version 8 free of charge? Please advise. Thanks.

Downstairs Video
Ulead at one stage; v6.5 offered at a discount price on what they called 'the directors cut'.v2to8 wrote:Yes, CG Infinity and Paint were included in v7.
CG infinity and paint were the two left out then.
This was all I could afford at the time and bought the directors cut.
At the time it cost me AU$365 to download, a big saving from the full version.
v8 would appear to be the directors cut.
Let me explain what I think may be the facts about CGI and VP.
MSP8 is $100 less than MSP7 was at full price. As CGI and VP were used only by a minority of MSP users, it was probably decided simply to separate them and pass on the savings to those who didn't need them.
Those who have v. 7 (or earlier) should still be able to use CGI and VP from their old installations if they don't want the updated ones in the separate pack, which is available at reduced cost to MSP8 owners.
I therefore see no cause for complaint.
Oh, and MSP8 is now the least expensive of all the prosumer NLE suites.

Devil,
While I basically agree with you, I have a couple of observations/questions.
What changes have been made to VP/CG? I use both occasionally, and find them sufficient for my needs. If I spent the time to really learn to use them, I would probably use them a lot more, so at this stage I will probably elect to use them from V7, and not spend the money now, could always add them at a later stage.
That said, I cannot load MSP 8, uninstall MSP 7 but leave VP/CG, therefor need to keep MSP 7 & 8 on the same system.
Regards,
Greg

- don't know
- AFAIK they seem to be only cosmetic changes
NB, I'm not a Ulead employee, so am not privy to their secrets.
