Audio Track Not Burning Correctly

Post by marotti »

Hello,

I am in trouble, I invested in learning DVD Workshop 2 last night and authoring my project (due today) because Workshop had the subtitle capability that Encore lacks.

Problem: Everything seem to work fine, the preview works flawless, so I thought I was good to go...

But when I burn a DVD or a disk image or folders to disk the same problem occurs...

The video and subtitle tracks play fine, but the audio starts and plays for about 37 seconds and then it stops, and repeats indefinitely.

Looking at the .mpa file in the directory DWS_TS\CvtTitle\TITLE_01 I see that the file is 38,856 Kb and when I play it I find that it is the audio track that is being burned to DVD. It plays for 37 sec. then repeats from the beginning.

I am using files encoded in Procoder and my settings in Workshop are: CBR 8000 MPEG Audio at 224Kbps Media Type NTSC at 80% Quality.

I have also tried LPCM audio with the exact same results. I have also tried other Workshop settings including the "Standard Play" minimal settings, again with the same results.

I would greatly appreciate any insights that you may have :!: :!:

Thank You in Advance !

NOTE: This is definitely a problem exclusive to DVD Workshop 2 because the files burn and playback perfectly in ReelDVD, Encore 1.5, and burning with Nero.

NOTE: This isn't caused by the subtitle track because I pulled my video and audio into a new Workshop 2 project and burned a direct play version without any subtitles, or menus for that mater.

what format is the source audio? is it part of a video file -- if so, what are the properties of the source video file?

How long is it supposed to be?

If you can create a separate audio track (using an editor or some utility), then use the separate audio track as your source audio in DVDWS. That might get your project done -- still don't know why it's looping like that...

Hello George,

Thanks for the reply!

The audio is a separate file. It is MPEG Audio at 224Kbps. I can play it in a separate program all of the way through, and I can preview it all of the way through in Workshop, but when I burn, only the first 37 seconds plays and then loops??

 :?: :?:

what sampling rate is that audio file? 48khz, or something else?

how did that audio file get created?

if it's 48khz / 224kbps, then it should be dvd compliant, and DVDWS should not have to re-encode it.

Hey George,

Yes it is 48Khz at 224kbps. I encoded it with ProCoder from Canopus. Both the MPEG Audio and Video files encode and burn perfectly in Encore, I would use Encore, but it doesn't allow for White Text on a Black background for subtitles :?:

Thanks for your continued interest :!: :!:

Do the video and audio files match in terms of duration? are you trimming the video at all?

The only other thing I can think of is to create a PCM 48khz .wav file, and use that to see if it works any better.

If it does not work, I would fill out a tech support form and send it in to Ulead Support.

Hello George,

The MPEG audio was created with the video and is an exact match.

I called Ulead for tech support and filled out the form, but they didn't answer their phones nor did they respond to my web message.

I solved my dilemma by creating an MPEG file that contained the audio track. I also experimented with using a .wav file instead of the elemental MPEG audio file and that worked as well.

I would still like to know why the MPEG audio file failed, it works in all of my other programs :?:

Thanks for the reply :!:
