What does "Both Letterbox & Pan&Scan" mean

Post by jlietz »

If I have a 16:9 video and choose "Both Letterbox and Pan and Scan" on standard TV, what does that mean? Does that mean the user will be able to determermine which mode to use via their TV or DVD controls?

Thanks

hi, check the workshop 2 manual on page 68 ... that might help you when working with the "output display options".

The manual was ambiguous. I figured it out by testing a DVD created in each mode. If one chooses "Both Letterbox and Pan and Scan" for a 16:9 source file as standard TV output, it does indeed allow the user to choose betwee Letterbox or Pan & Scan at the time of viewing. If one chooses simply "Letterbox", the user is not able to select another output setting at the time of viewing.
