Having overcome the issues I had with audio, I've now got another problem. The audio and visual are out of sync, with the video being ahead of the audio. However, this only occurs after rendering.
I followed the recommended procedure with the following settings...
Mpeg Capture Properties
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
Video Rate: Variable
Audio: 224kbps
I'm capturing from a VHS in a video recorder via CBS. The problem only occurs AFTER rendering has occurred, before as much as the footage is not smooth, the audio is in sync.
My PC spec is 40GB HD, 40GB HD (Video Drive), 256 RAM, 1.4GHZ Processor, integrated gfx and sound cards.
Any ideas?

Try closing all other running applications (anti-virus, screensavers, what have you), and unplug unnecessary external devices before rendering. Oh, and turn off smart rendering as well.
If you're using WinXP, try to increase your virtual memory:
Right click on My Computer, choose 'Properties', then select 'Advanced'click 'Settings' under 'Performance'. In the 'Advanced' tab, click 'Change' and set the virtual memory as the values shown below:
Custom Initial Size: 1024
Maximum Size: 4096
(well, it depends on your hard drive what size you gonna use, anyway, this what I use)
Peace.

Hi
We need more information to go on.
You say (However, this only occurs after rendering.)
What do you mean by rendering
Share Create Video File
Or
Share Create Disc
The property settings you have provided do not show in full, what is the variable bit rate.
Right click a clip in the timeline and select properties, what are they.?
How long is your Captured Video?
Your settings indicate NTSC (720 x 480)29.97fps
Where are you in this world.?
Are you in a Ntsc country or Pal.?
And as an extra, to help monition capture.
During capture do you get any dropped frames?
How do I make VideoStudio 7 show the drop-frame counter again?
