Manually Capturing Video

With MovieFactory 3.0 does anyone know how to capture video manually? I do not want a fixed duration, marked start and stop times nor do I want to capture the entire tape.

I just want to click start and then stop manually where I want on the tape and then have video clips created each time I click stop.

I believe MovieFactory 2.x allowed for it and Windows MovieMaker allows for it.

MF3.0 and 3.5 works the same way. Just stop it when you want.
