I have just bought and installed VS9, I'm having a play around with the software capturing some DV footage and all appears well until I get to around 3.5 minutes through the capture and the system stops capturing and comes back with an error message saying something about a lack of hard disk space...thing is I have 145Gb of free space, surely it doesn't need more than that - does it?
Ok
At least we know why.
I think it would be best to convert your drive to Ntfs, I don’t know whats involved, others on the forum will give you some guidance if you need it.( I don’t think its difficult ).
For the time being, you can either capture to Avi or Mpeg.(dvd)
Avi
Select –Avi- from the ‘Format’ box
Options
Video and audio property ……….
Tick ‘Use software compression’
Advanced
Select ‘Microsoft Video 1’
This should capture at 13 Gb per hour, you should get about 20 minutes / 4Gb
Mpeg
Select –Dvd- from the ‘Format’ box
This will select the standard pal template.
Check the settings in options.
This should capture about 4.3 Gb per hour.
DV-Avi is the format that a digital camcorder records in.
This can be captured/copied to VS using a Firewire connection, This is the best method to get your data to your pc.

You should really convert your drives to NTFS, manages your files better than FAT 32 and you can capture video files that are gigabytes in size.
I have captured HD video that is over 8 Gig.
To convert a volume to NTFS from the command prompt
Open the Command Prompt window.
In the command prompt window, type
convert drive_letter: /fs:ntfs
For example, typing convert D: /fs:ntfs would format drive D: with the ntfs format.
