If they aren't, then how come there aren't more?
Is there a way programmers could be enticed into making plug-ins without it costing you guys any money?
Seems like the amount of plug-ins Mediastudio has is the reason why it is so low on the totem pole.
Are Mediastudio Plug-ins hard to program?

Writing for MSP is no more difficult than competing products, really.
Things will likely get easier with MSP8 as well.
Much of what people associate as "plugins" (fancy effects combos, composits and transitions) can now be created interactively in the Smart Compositing tool.
There could very well be a number of SC based libraries that appear once people begin to realize the abilities of this tool.
