Project only renders halfway

Post by Sherryluv1 »

:( I am having trouble with my project rendering halfway in VS9. I am an experienced user of VS as I have every version made. I love the program. I have created, rendered and burned several projects before with VS9, but this one (and it is a wedding) renders, the first part, gets to a certain point and quits. I am trying to create an mpeg2 file. I am using digital video, photos, and flash animations. The project is beautiful. I have even tried changing settings and nothing. I have plenty of hard drive space, (20 gigs free) and a gig of ram. My processor is also up to par. The project is only 30 minutes long!!! Can anyone help? By the way, the project will preview all the way through

Try turning off Smart Render before you Create Video File. Sometimes that will fix a corrupt video clip.

Although I havent had this problem with VS9 I had the same problem with an earlier version, I think it may have been VS7. The problem was finally nailed down to the audio. I found that replacing MP3 files with WAV files made the problem go away.

Had same problem in the past.

CPU was just getting too hot during rendering.

I opened the computer case and vacuum-cleaned the CPU heatsink. And... I never closed my computer case again. :)

Yes, heat is a very big factor. The inside of a computer quickly clogs up with dust as the air is being sucked through the computer by the various fans.

Every couple of months I remove the case and give it a good vaccum. In addition I remove all of the fans and give them a squirt with WD-40.

If not other suggestions help with this problem then perhaps have a look at the troubleshooting techique suggestions that I have added to the "Downunder perspective" web-site. You can view it here:

Essentially the problem is how to isolate that single part of your project that is causing VS to have problems - the described techique is one approach that will hopefully help you to sort this one out - by all means let us know what the problem was if you solve it :-)
