How to change image selection to Path Object?

Post by jimojimo »

Hi,
I used the smart lasoo tool and selected an outline of part of a jpg, then saved to a new file, saving as .ufo. When I do Convert--> Text/Image to Path, all it does is create a 'path' that is a square box around the selection!

What I want is to add Points to the selection to make the exact selection a path--not some random square around the selection. How do I do that?
Thanks,

I think that's what's supposed to normally happen in PhotoImpact. What are you going to use it for anyway. If you want to alter the object, you can just use the lasso tool once more once the object is selected or highlighted.

Hi, I use the Edit/ trace edges/ image tool to do uncomplicated paths. It puts nodes along the edges of your image and you control how sensitive to shapes, curves, lines it is.You then click okay and you have your editable path.Give it a try, maybe it will do the job.Good luck. :)

Thanks for the replys. What I'm trying to do is just get a simple shape that's part of a photo, and I want to be able to strech/warp it as if it were an object, and have it be able to scale like an object. I guess I could try the magic wand or the trace thing and see how that works.

here's one late response ..... !

Try saving your selection as a JPEG. By pasting this JPEG-image onto another image (by default an "object"), you will then have available all the resizing options open to you.
