Hello,
First time user of Movie Factory 4.0 and I'm having trouble using Straight too DVD from my Canon MV530i. It states the recording process stopped due to low memory? i.e Free Space/Total Disk Space
0.00(KB) / 4.35(GB)
Any ideas, I have 1 gig DDR400 and 20 gig of spare HD space.
Thanks
Steph

Make sure to have downloaded and installed the latest 4.03 update patch to MF4.
What type of media (dvd) are you using? dvd-rw, dvd-r?
For best results capturing dv.avi Type-1 to the harddisk first. You have 20 gigs free. DV.avi recording uses about 13gig per hour. Then you have to convert that to mpeg2 including temp files so your low on harddisk space using that method. It's the most reliable method though (and best results).
To perform direct to dvd does work but requires a very fast machine for good results.
Hope this helps,
MD

The top sticky post on the VideoStudio Forum has some tips how to capture dv.avi type-1.
VideoStudio is a different program but capturing and converting is still the same process.
Capture in dv.avi
Transcode to Mpeg2 (dvd compliant video file).
In the VideoStudio post when the program says goto share->create file the
method in MovieFactory is the 3rd Icon down on the left "Export".
When exporting I would use the "Customize" and set your own attributes. (Or the pre-customized templates).
As a test of the procedure:
When the dv.avi file is on the timeline you can mark IN/OUT a short section of video, say a 2 minute section and export that to a dvd compliant spec file.
It's usually best to export the video at dvd compliant specs and then re-import the dvd compliant video back into the timeline (new project).
This way the dvd creation will go much faster and you also have a backup of the original mpeg2 dvd compliant video file.
