i registered this problem 2 weeks ago with the tech dept who DIDN'T reply so anyone who can help me here would be nice - i have a sony camcorder that records to mini dvd in 5.1 surround (i know VS doesn't support this) so i used NERO to encode the dvd to mpeg format that plays perfectly in WMP with the sound intact.
i have tried to get VS9 to import the dvd but it hangs like a snotty nose! and then doesn't respond to anything so i have to do a re-start (VERY ANNOYING!!!)
the video side of things is great but no audio at all - it is not the VS9 audio settings as VS9 plays it's own jingles no problem so the sound card, speakers, and VS9 audio settings is not the problem here.
i downloaded the new version 3 weeks ago and this also happened to me with VS8 with totally different mpeg files - so i ask the question is VS just a waste of money?
I am just lost for idea here
HELP!!!!!

You have already raised this problem here :-

and have received a number of replies, why did you start another thread on the same subject - why not continue with your existing thread.

i started another thread cos i couldn't find the old one for some reason or i would've continued the old - i aint used to going on forums for problems as i didn't expect to get any from this - and to be honest it's a pain in the back side having to go round the houses for an answer when the tech dept don't help you out or reply - from what i'm hearing is just delete NERO
madness!

No Audio: I have sound
I have spent the last few weeks trying to get sound from VS9 while editing but no way was it to work. BUT when I had finished editing the movie and burned it to dvd, there was sound. Like alot of people, as soon as I found a sound issue, I did not go any further with the programme. A thought came to me that maybe the sound is not transferred to cut down on memory issues. So I edited the movie with all the transitions and filters. The burning process took a long time but as soon as it was finished, I placed the dvd in my player and sound was heard. Steve

I reckon we are the same! as I too have just gave up continuing with VS9 until I can find the answer - it did go through my mind that the sound may not be heard due to saving memory but know where does it tell you that, well I can't find it stated anyway.
But if this happened to you and you then burnt it to DVD and the sound reappeared then I'll get my VS9 out at the weekend and try it - I'll also let you know!
Thanks Steve
