two questions regarding effects

Post by Peta »

Hi again

Q1 I notice that the "crossfade" effect which i used extensively in VS8 is no longer in VS9. Am I right or am I missing something? I cannot find an effect that comes close to the crossfade. Forget this question I have found the crossfade
Q2. In VS9 - the help topics say that the effects can be edited to suit the need. You can change border size, colour, softness etc. However, in mine the colour, border and 'softedge' options are 'greyed out' and I cannot find a way to use them?

Any assistance gratefully received.

You can only edit an effect when it is on the video track. The options will then be selectable.

Thank you sjj - but do you mean when you have dragged it into the storyboard or timeline? If you do, then it is still not editable at that point - at least not to me.

They are editable when on the story board between two video clips.
However..... Have you checked various effects, some are editable, some are not.

Take for example the FX group:
Arrows through to Disolve Not Editable
Fly through to Mask - editable
Fade to Black through to Shatter - not editable
Shuffle through to unfold - editable
zigzag - not editable.
