Hi,
When I capture a file through my old dazzle 150, I come up with an mpeg file that imports very nicely into VS8. However, the audio that I get is apparently called LPCM (or something like that) and is of a fairly good size. Now then, perhaps someone could educate me on the different audio types that mpeg uses?
It would be nice to be able to compact the audio somewhat. Ulead offers a "Dolby Audio Plug-in". Does this convert audio streams from lpcm to 'dolby'? If so what, if any, space is saved and does it still maintain the synchronization?
thanks for viewing!

LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) is uncompressed audio. The Dolby (or AC-3) plugin will convert the audio from LPCM to AC-3 if you select it; this audio is compressed and takes up about one eighth the room on disc that uncompressed audio does.
The significant benefit of this is that you can fit 15% more video on a disc, at whatever bitrate you are using.
Synchronisation is no problem.
