Smart Package problem

Post by alanball »

Hi all
I'm part way through a project with 8 videos' and want to create Smart Package's for the videos to gather all the items into one zip file for each video, as items are spread over a number of folders.
I completed two Smart Packages with no problems. when I came to the third package, I get this message come up.

Package.jpg

The VSP file has no problems producing the MP4 video. I have tried the following options, I can open the JPEG in an editing program, and re-saved the JPEG under a different name and replaced the original with the new file, still the same message but with the different file name. I also tried converting the file to an PNG file and still the same message, but with the PNG file name. If I delete the JPEG in the VSP file (which is the first item in the video, I then get the same message but with the next file name in the video!! The JPEG file is on the main track with no filters added.

I then tried the same VSP file in VS2021, (idiot me forgot to make a copy first!!) I went through the same process in VS 2021 with the same result. I have quite a few voice over's, of which I re-made, also various photos and JPEGs of maps which I created and did not use which are located in various folders, including the VS working folder I created. So I really need to delete the one's not used in the VSP file.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Alan
Smart Packages may not be as smart as its name suggests.
Unfortunately the error message may be misleading
Some editing techniques do affect the use of SP's, I am thinking stabilization, reverse video.
I would need to test to confirm which filters affect SP.

Viewing your video clips have you applied any FX filters.
Compare with your second Smart Package.

Oh, did the second package contain the image?

Have you use Nesting, where you insert a VSP to the timelines?

Hi Lata
thanks for your comments. I didn't use nesting, and I didn't use the same map file in the other VSP files. As far as I can remember, I have only used the same Filter's, colour corrections, etc. in all the 8 videos. I would have thought the Smart package side of VS, would have been the most straight forward, with only the need to assemble a list of file names and create a Zip file from the list.

I have gone through the remaining 5 VSP files today, and Smart Package created the Zip files for each VSP file with no problem at all!! So there is obviously something in the problem VSP file which Smart Package does no like. I think at this stage, I will just see how easy it is to do a manual check by moving the files I suspect are not in the VSP file into another folder, and see which show up as not being found. That way I should be able to remove most of the files not being used.

Thanks again for your suggestions Lata
