object to default size resize reverting

object to default size resize reverting
Upon the resize feature I have the following problem. I resize a pic to use for a background image. I make sure it is large enough to exceed the size of the image I intend to overlay and then I click OK. Upon attempting to overlay my image, I find that my overlay completely blocks the background image. Looking at the background image size I find that the size is what the default was before I attempted to resize it. Both the background and the overlay are in the same size format so I know that the background that I am attempting to enlarge is sufficiently larger than the overlay I wish to place on it.

Re: object to default size resize reverting
Can you be more specific? Give us the actual size information being used. Are these print dimensions (inches, centimeters, etc.) or Pixel?
Also, can you confirm if I have this correct:
1) You have two images: An overlay you want to copy, and a background image you want to paste the overlay image onto.
2) Your overlay image is currently larger than your background image.
3) You're using Resize on your background image to make it larger for use with your overlay image.
4) After resizing the background image, you copy the unmodified overlay image and find the overlay image is still larger than your background image.
5) And when looking at your image sizes you find the background image has not changed in size.
Is this correct?
If so, does the image revert after pasting in the overlay image? Or does it just never resize?

Re: object to default size resize reverting
Yes, you have the correct interpretation of the actions that take place. And apparently the image never resizes as I have resized the image both by percentage and inches and saved the image and closed the program only to find the image size was still the default size. So I am clear, your steps one through five are exactly what is taking place.
Re: object to default size resize reverting
I found a partial solution. If I define the pic in pixels and under Advance settings I resample using "pixel resize" the adjusted size seems to hold the setting. Thanks for your input as it provides a sounding board of things to check and observations that may have gone unnoticed.
When using background eraser tool artifacts left
When using the background eraser tool, after the majority of the background is removed, there are significant artifacts still remaining and these have to be painstakingly removed. This is fairly time consuming and slow. Is there a method to insure that fewer artifacts are left after the first use of the background eraser?

Could you put here a screen capture of the area with artifacts?

Re: object to default size resize reverting
It seems that the Background Eraser was not used as it should. The settings of the tool need to be adapted. I don't see your background but I suppose you have something like this (video attached):

Re: object to default size resize reverting
Adapted how? My usage of the background eraser appears to be no different to me. The MP4 sent does not look any different than how I utilize the tool in my usage. ???

Re: object to default size resize reverting
In the video, see my tool settings adapted to my image. Do you have the same settings?
You have perhaps a complex background. Could you post a view with the background? I'll try to adapt the settings to your image.
The Background Eraser should remove all the background and no artifact should remain. But sometimes, the tool cannot make the difference between the background and the subject if their color is similar. Then, you need to use the normal Eraser.
When I analyze your result, I see that some areas are not correct. I suspect an unadapted use of the tool:

Re: object to default size resize reverting
Thank you. By changing the settings closer to yours I have fewer artifacts and when doing cleanup it is more effective.
