when opening Split Screen Template Creator the default length is 10 sec
If I try to change the length in the box it auto reset at 10sec. I can only reduce it
If i drag the edge once placed on the timeline I just slow down the template but i cannot add additional time
Is there a way to make a split screen longer than 10 sec?
Thanks
Split screen

Re: Split screen
Hi Irviner
Yes you appear to be correct in that the Split Screen defaults to 10 seconds Maximum size.
I do not see any reason why that should be.
If I simply increased the clips duration the effect still ran to 10 seconds then was static to end
I noticed that the SS effects I created were using Customised Motion.
If I opened Customise Motion it appeared to reset the motion to the end of clip, effectively increasing the length of the Split Screen
Of course this affect may depend on the complexity of the Split Screen.
Are you able to share a project containing the Split Screen, we can try increasing its length.
Create a project using the libraries samples
Oh from Split Screen hit the OK button not the Save as Template, that way you can open the file again.
Zip your VSP to attach to the post.

A split screen can be dragged on the timeline to whatever duration you require (see following image).irviner wrote: If i drag the edge once placed on the timeline I just slow down the template but i cannot add additional time

Tletter
Can you confirm that when you increase the duration that the split screen ran over the whole clip.
I created a SS effect where one clip moved from left to right, that ran ok at 10 seconds.
Increasing the clip to 16 sec, the effect played over 10 seconds then static up to 16 sec.

Yes it does (see attached VSP - remove .txt extension).lata wrote: Can you confirm that when you increase the duration that the split screen ran over the whole clip.
Never experienced this behaviour in either VS2018 or VS2021.lata wrote: Increasing the clip to 16 sec, the effect played over 10 seconds then static up to 16 sec.
Happy New Year!

Re: Split screen
Irviner, can you confirm you are working with VS2023, can you update your profile to show the correct version to avoid confusion, cheers
Tletter thanks for the sample, I had assumed 2023 was being used and its this version that I was testing.
I have now installed 2018 also needed SP4 I assume the version you used to create the SS sample.
I am able to run your project however there is no animation.
Later versions of Video Studio allowed using keyframes so we can set a line to the left then float to the right, effect looks a little like a Slide transition. Not sure which version first allowed keyframes
It is this slide that stops at 10 seconds.
I thought I had found a workround using Customise Motion but tests today failed to extend the effect.

Re: Split screen
Just tried the same thing on 2 20 second clips and it limits me to 10 seconds too. the "Split graph" and the "Geometry mask" cannot be edited in VS, only the motion can be keyframed afterwards, but the "motion effect" does/has nothing as I had my clips full screened. When I loaded the project tletter attached, it seems to be missing one of those 2 effects on alternate clips - so I'm assuming the project had a 3 way transition?

VS2018 (21.4.0.165).lata wrote: I have now installed 2018 also needed SP4 I assume the version you used to create the SS sample.
There is no animation because that is a user option which I didn't exercise as the OP reported that split screen couldn't be longer than 10 secs, when it clearly can be in either VS2018 or VS2021.lata wrote: I am able to run your project however there is no animation.
As shown, this is not an issue in either VS2018 or VS2021. I don't have VS2023, so can't check its handling of split screens.lata wrote: It is this slide that stops at 10 seconds.
