How to increase maximum (cache) size for images?

Post by pstein »

Occasionally if I am working with big images and perform a some operations PSP X2 pops up a warning that this
operation cannot be done because the image gets too big.

How can I prevent this situation?

Is there a configuration parameter which let me increase the maximum cache size (on SSD/hard disk/RAM)?
I have 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD

Yes, it would be nice to know the average limits of PSP (different versions) for image size, timeout for different operations, etc.

There are some advanced users in this forum who are cappable to create some scripts that can collect some statistic about image resolutions, number of layers and objects, record how long (milisec.) each operation takes etc. and if more users collect such info there can be some graphical representation.

I'm unfamiliar with PSP X2.
But for PSP2021 I believe I was able to prevent seeing the warning after:
- Added a 2nd drive (ie. 4TB HDD) into PC case.
- PSP2021 - File > Preferences > File Locations (Scroll down file types) to change the "Undo/Temporary Files" and browse location to 2nd drive.
- File > Preferences > General Program Preferences > Display and Caching > [X] Enable Scratch Disk (and just below that change location to 2nd drive) "D:\"
Hopefully the locations/names are similar in PSP X2 ???
