I am running PSP X2 32 bit on Windows 10 22H2 64bit.
It works (in general).
However occasionally when I click on the "x" icon in the upper right corner to full exit PSP then PSP window vanishes but is still running in background (as the Task Manager shows).
This is the case in (only) approx. 80% of the "x" clicks.
Very strange.
Maybe its because I am running a 32bit version on 64bit WinOS. This may confuse Windows 10.
Buy maybe its another reason inside PSP
How can I ensure that PSP X2 really exits after "x" click?
Really Exit PSP X2 (32bit) when clicking on "x" in (64bit) Win10?

This has been the case with a number of PSP versions; not just X2. No idea why it continues to run in the background but you can end it via the Task Manager.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Re: Really Exit PSP X2 (32bit) when clicking on "x" in (64bit) Win10?
Does the same thing happen when you go to File > Exit? I ask since I have a 32" 4K monitor. The buttons up in the top right hand corner are really small. I have found that hovering my mouse over them gives me varying results. Instead of Close, I will often get the Restore Down tip. I have to place the mouse button fairly accurately on the X to get PSP to close. I used to have this problem every so often of PSP remaining as a Background Process in Task Manager, but that has stopped since I have moved over to closing PSP by going to File > Exit. As Kathy has already said, I have no idea as to why this should be so, but it works for me at least and I have now gotten into the habit of using it since it involves only one more mouse action than previously...

You can add the File>Exit command to a Toolbar by Right clicking a Toolbar and selecting Customise. On my 2020 version it is the last option on the File category. Just drag it to where you want it.

By default there is also indexing service running, look at configuration.pstein wrote: ↑Mon Dec 18, 2023 9:58 am I am running PSP X2 32 bit on Windows 10 22H2 64bit.

But I am not 100% sure if it is related to PSP.exe (X2) running in background.

Running programs in background after closing is a default behavior for apps downloaded from microsoft store.
Also seen a couple regular installed programs getting the background apps properties too.
So I wonder if PSP can be fixed the same way?
Go to: Settings > Privacy then scroll down left side to: Background apps
and toggle-off Corel PaintShop Pro. I don't have the issue, but also don't have PSP listed as a background app.
If PSP is not listed as background app then do a Windows system file check.
Open a command prompt or powershell as administrator and type:
SFC /scannow
Sfc usually looks like its doing nothing for a bit and then give a report.
If it finds anything and successfully repairs, then a reboot after its finished is recommended.
