Choppy motion of title text after rendering. Follow-up 2023

Post by Antois »

Once again the problem that a created text with background (VideoStudio 2022) does not appear smoothly in the final MP4 video.

The project file scrolls a smooth 40-second text. So does the rendered MP4. If I insert this MP4 into another project file the text is still smooth. However as soon as I render this project file the result is a text that no longer scrolls smoothly across the screen.

You would think that rendering it twice would have something to do with it, but mostly it goes well on the 60 texts I have made. And I make them all in practically the same way: 40-50 seconds, Modern Credits-scroll, 10,000 kbps, 25-30 fps.

Turning off SmartRender gives a slight improvement but not enough. Hardware acceleration on or off gives no difference.

A curious phenomenon.

You say that, in general, you use amongst other things frame rates of 25 or 30 fps. But if the title is one frame rate (say 25 fps), and the rest of the project is the other frame rate (say 30 fps), and you render the project at (say) 30 fps, then I would expect the title sequence to be slightly choppy as VS would have to make up 5 extra frames and it would do so by simply copying existing frames. Conversely, if the title is 30fps and the project is 25 fps and rendered at 25 fps, the end result would still be choppy as VS would have to randomly cut out 5 frames per second.

Your title shows 2023 yet you mention 2022 in your post, which version is causing this issue.
If 2023 then there is a problem using 2023 and, Modern Credits-scroll,

@ Ken Berry: Thanks for your information about uprating and downrating a video file and the consequences.

In my case : I always render the text in the same frame rate and with the same properties as the main video where the the text finds its place.

So this cannot be the cause.

@ Trevor / Iata : 2023 means that this is a recent follow-up of the same problem I mentioned in 2022. I use VS 2022.

I looked at several text files I have used at the same way as this file in different MP4-video's and most of them show smooth scrolling in the final video. They differ in properties so properties are not crucial for a smooth scrolling text-file.

As soon as I know what it is I will report it here

Hi
Thanks for the info re 2022 and 2023

Did you read the post
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=398739#p398739
regarding Modern Scroll Credits

The problem affects both 2022 and 2023, more so depending on the number of lines of text we have.

The work-round was to apply Customise Motion

@lata : The problem in the post you mentioned is quite different from the problem I have met with Modern Credits - scroll.

I know now what is the main cause of the choppy motion when using Modern Credits title template. It's the double rendering.

As soon as I use a text (that has been rendered by VideoStudio before) in a different project there's a great chance that the text will chop after rendering this other project. Properties of the text match the properties of the new project, that's not the point.

The point is that rendering the text twice may create a choppy display of the text. The extent of choppiness varies from slight to disturbing.

Not sure I fully understand
You are creating a text effect with animation.
1 / Then rendering that to a video file to be used in another project, which then suffers with choppy motion.
Or
2 / you create a text animation, drag that to the library to save a copy which can be used in other projects.

There is an option to save the text effect to an animated Png’s as a UIS file
Right click the title clip for Effects – Convert to Animation
Not used that myself but as it creates a separate image for every frame should retain the quality
A lot of images.
