Possibility to edit a script for PSP12 and up

Post by Louise »

Hi, I have different versions of PSP, from PSP7 (Anniversary Edition from Jasc Software Inc) to PSP18; the reasons are 1) I am french speaking and love to make french-speaking tutorials from different PSP french-speaking groups but I am also member of different PSP english-speaking groups and 2) my husband knows I like to work images and make tutorials so PSP has been an anniversary gift for a few years. Through the years, I have made little scripts to add borders to an image, a fastidious exercise that can be transformed in seconds with a script. In my versions 8, 9 and 10, it was possible to ask that the script be editable very easily. Now, with my latest versions of PSP (12, 15 and 18), I can't find the little window where we can add this feature to the script and when I tried to edit the scripts (I made several scripts for different border types), I am not familiar with the html codes and I don't want to play in that because I could certainly mess everything around.
Can someone help me with this issue? Thanks.

All scripts are already editable by default. They're just text files.

If you're talking about the simplified editor in PSP that lets you use the UI to edit individual commands in the script, this is available so long as the program can parse the script. If it can't, it'll default to opening the script in Notepad or whatever you've set as your Python editor.

To edit a script make sure the script toolbar is open. View -> Toolbars -> Script.

On the script toolbar you'll look for the icon that looks either like a feather writing on a scroll or a pencil writing on a piece of paper. Like in this screenshot

When you click on that button it'll either open up the simple script editor or it'll open up the text/code editor (by default Notepad) that's set in the File Locations preferences. Here's a screenshot of the simple script editor. With this editor you can double-click on any command and it'll show the command dialog where you can set the values.

See the French forum.
There is a subforum related to the scripts:

Thank you very much for these informations, both of you. After verification, Notepad was the default for the Python library.
I went to visit the french forum. It looked interesting and I will certainly use that address as well.
Now for the script modification, I will see how I can manage with what I know now.
I'll be back... like someone said in a movie!
Hugs and thanks!!
