Has PSP always changed the Windows file creation date on Save?

I have been recreating a scenario with PSP 2023 that had me paying attention to the Windows 11 OS file dates, and it seems PSP changes the file creation date on a SAVE rather than just updating the file modification date.

Has it always done this? I usually use "Save As" for my photo mods, so it is not easy for me to check older files... and I understand that there may be some rational for this behavior.

It would be nice to have the file creation dates mean something, but I guess there are many other scenarios that result in confusing file property dates... so maybe this is not important.

If you have Auto-Preserve activated in the Preferences, then it's normal. The program moves the original file in a backup place and creates a new file when saving.

Thank you, but I do not have Auto-Preserve turned on. I have never used this, and just verified that is NOT enabled.
