ParticleShop Missing

Post by Elle Fredrix »

I hope someone can help!

I just went to use ParticleShop in my 2020 Ultimate and got an "Error 38. Corel Painter has encountered a problem. Please reinstall from the original source."

I don't have the full version of Painter, just several ParticleShop bundles I've bought over the years. I've always accessed it via Effects >Plugins >Painter >ParticleShop. I have a few ParticleShop.exe files (Windows10 system) and have tried running a repair, but that was no help.

Suggestions, please!

PS: PSP has been very glitchy for the last month or so, and I've come close to resetting, but there are so many setting changes that I've made over the last few years. I'm pretty sure I lose everything with a reset, right?

Save your workspace prior to doing a reset.
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Thank you. I've reset--which dealt with the other glitches I've noticed--but still no access to PS. I've run its install again, it says it's already installed so i try the repair. Nada. Still the original error message.

Any other ideas? I've made sure my updates are up to date, so there's nothing I can do there.

Fixed it! I found some 10-year old references to the error and started troubleshooting from there.

For anyone else who may run into the problem, somehow 2 Corel Licence Validation services were turned off--and i don't remember ever turning them off.

Assuming you're on Windows, the path to turn them back on is Run >msconfig >Services. Then make sure the 2 Corel services are running and reboot.

And thanks Kathy. This finally prompted me to reset. PSP has been generally making me insane for a few months now, and maybe the stopped services were part of that problem.
