Started PSP (pinned taskbar) won't paste from clipboard

Post by User10232023 »

When I copy something to clipboard or take screenshot,
and then start PaintShop Pro by clicking its taskbar icon, (*PSP is set to start in edit mode)
I can't immediately paste new image using keyboard shortcut. (ie. Shift+Insert)

I believe PSP looses focus or it never got the focus from Windows taskbar, because whatever program I used before starting PSP is still highlighted on taskbar.
And because after PSP is started, clicking it's taskbar icon a second time will let me paste.
Noticed this happen with both PSP 2021 and PSP 2023 on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
But this lack of focus on starting doesn't happen with any other programs that I have pinned.

Has anyone else noticed this happen and hopefully know of how PSP could get focus after its started?

I have never used Ctrl+Insert if you are talking about the button on the keyboard labelled Insert. I always use Ctrl+V to insert from the clipboard, (and Ctrl+C to copy to the clipboard).

I confirm the lack of focus on starting. I need to click on Edit to put the focus.
I don't use Ctrl+V but CTRL+Shift+V

Thanks Jean-Luc. As I understand it, Ctrl+Shift+V strips formatting when inserting something, while the formatting is not affected with Ctrl+V. What is the advantage of using your method when inserting an image as opposed to text?

When I trialed PSP 2023 Complete I used Shift+Insert which worked fine. I didn't look closely at the edit menu, very interesting thank you Jean-Luc. 8)
Here's a screenshot of PSP 2021 Complete edit menu.

I've been using Shift+Insert to simply paste since at least the 1980s when using Wordperfect, Cobol, QuickBasic, etc. And CTRL+Insert was/is the copy command.
I don't recall what CTRL+V did back then, but it was common to use CTRL+C to stop programs in UNIX, CP/M, DOS, etc.
Honestly I don't even think of the other keyboard shortcut until shift+insert doesn't work.

Thank you Jean-Luc for confirming PSP doesn't have focus when it starts up.
Hopefully someone else comes across this topic and knows how to nudge PSP to have focus on start.
