[Solved] Still no updates for VideoStudio 2023?

Post by BiAnMiXiang »

02/01/2024 Update:
Corel finally released a service pack update for VideoStudio 2023,
And there is no need to download trial edition in Microsoft Store now.
More info: https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=70639

--------------------------------------------------
I noticed that VideoStudio 2023 was released on February 2023, and the first version of the application is v26.0.0.136.
However, almost 10 months later, we are reaching the end of the year 2023, but there is still no one single update for this application.
I think there should be one update to fix some serious issues, but that never happens.

There are many problems in this version, such as features are not functional, application crashes and randomly errors.
Just check the following topics on this forum.

VideoStudio 2023 Ultimate - Constant Crashing (02/28/2023)
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69920

Corel VS 2023 Ultimate and NewBlue Titler Pro 5 (03/16/2023)
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=69960

VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 "Out of memory" error when saving (04/12/2023)
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=70009

VideoStudio 2023 causes problems with audio editing (11/05/2023)
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=70433

You can also see more complaints in the VideoStudio Ideas Portal (https://videostudio.ideas.aha.io/).

Some people said that the problem is because the transition between the old "Corel" and the new "Alludo".
After the transition, the new "Corel" is now on the same level with Parallels, WinZip and MindManager,
and the other three products are now disappered on https://www.corel.com/en/all-products/.
Also the transition affects VideoStudio Dev Team.

However for a such big company like Alludo / Corel, that should not be a problem.
As a paid software, it shouldn't has such many problems, and there is no updates at all.

At the same time, I am worried about can we see the next big release of VideoStudio (maybe VideoStudio 2024?) comes out?
Or Corel or Alludo is just gives up? I don't know the answer and I have nothing to do but still wait.

It would appear that Alludo wants to recoup its investment in Corel, so bug fix work has been curtailed.

At this point, it's possible that a major rewrite of Videostudio is required to fix the many issues that have accumulated over the years, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hi,
I haven't seen anything to suggest that Corel was bought out. Rather it seemed like it was a simple corporate rebranding to the name "Alludo". Is this correct?

No it was actually bought by a sort of technology investment company called Alludo towards the beginning of the year. See https://www.alludo.com/en/about/ I think it's based in California. Its parent company is called Cascade.

The update for 2023, will be called 2024. It'll feature the same (within reason) issues and crashes. It's a shame that I'm not joking. I still like the application, but know that I have to save every other change to the timeline (just in case).

You're optimistic - I save after every change

WRT to VS2023 & VS2024, it'll be interesting to see if Alludo has the resources to produce both a major patch to VS2023 and VS2024 early in the new year.

I apologise. I'm only being mildly sarcastic. We all (hopefully) know that they'll simply release a new version and the wheel keeps spinning. Plus, it will likely be called Corel Video Studio 2024. Zero misinformation on having to save every other change, in order to escape a possible crash.

i'm having a lot of issues still all of them just plain annoying.
1 when using the scrubber the animation of titles does not show the title at all unless you scrub from the start of a title, otherwise the title is invisible if you scrub backwards - titles only appear when scrubbing forwards. That's not good enough.
I set the Exit animation of a title to none so I can snag the title at the exit point as a PNG. Because I want to convert the last frame of the title track to a PNG as an overlay. but the PNG created is blank, a bit like when scrubbing backwards. Any idea when this feature will work robustly again? This used to work in an earlier VS version, and it makes using VS to make thumbnails and static titles a real pain. Basically the moment I release the mouse button while scrubbing, the title track dissapears/goes black. Please tell me it's not that VS hates me.

/edit the moment I change the Exit animation to "none" or change anything about the title animation, for a title, the title bugs out. Why?
2. when hiding tracks, when you scrub, the tracks stay hidden, but when I let go mouse to stop scrubbing, the hidden tracks suddenly re-appear. Is there an obvious thing I 'm missing here?

Hi
I do not like the new scrubber ( the orange one- hit alt + B ) to remove
Using the original scrubber, dragging across the timeline does work back and forward, and from any position, at least that’s what I see.
That may depend on what other clips you have on other timelines?

I have had problems in setting the animation and now use Customise Motion
I understand the title going black when releasing the mouse, as I say use Customise Motion setting the keyframes rather than using the Entry / Middle and Exit options- set all these to None

Thank you @lata , yes that did help the pre made titles do not lend themselves to what I was wanting to accomplish and manually creating a custom motion works for my intended effect.

ALT+B? That seemed to do nothing however ....YAY I did find something. Because ALT + B is not a documented hotkey I discovered that TAB+TAB or ENTER+ENTER when selecting the title lets me let go my mouse button and use arrow keys to get to the right frame near the end of the Title and then I can in fact convert the title to a PNG as desired. :-) But it is still fiddly as heck because you have to play with ALT+B .

Alt+ B turns on and off the orange scrubber
Go to Preferences (F6) General Tab, second option.
This was new to 2023, for me tends to get in the way
The original scrubber timeline position need a mouse click/hold to move, the new orange scrubber just moves when moving the cursor around the timelines
So turn off the new Scrubber and see how you get on.

I found that there is a new Trial version available on Microsoft Store.
https://apps.microsoft.com/store/detail ... d=pdpshare

The version number is 26.0.0.213, much newer than the VideoStudio website (videostudiopro.com).

After installation I can use the Online Installer download from videostudiopro.com to upgrade to normal Pro or Ultimate edition.
(Use your serial number and the installer will download files for updrade)
