How to Lock Layers?

Post by Linda Lou »

Is there a way to temporarily lock a layer in PSP 2023 so nothing else can be added to it while working? The tutorial that I watched did not mention a locking option, but it was for an earlier version of PSP. When I am adding lines of text that is not wrapped if my cursor happens to hit the background layer the text ends up on the background instead of on the layer where I started it. That can be quite annoying.

You can lock transparency, but not the full layer I don't think. I don't remember it ever being possible to fully lock a layer.

Is your background layer a vector layer or do you have the 'Create as" option set to raster? Because if it's set to raster it should create a floating selection that you can place wherever you want it. If it's a vector, yes it's annoying, but you can just move the shape into the correct layer.

My background is usually a raster. Yes, I have the text set as floating, but I did not know that it would float to a different layer if I activate the different layer. As mentioned above, my text has been showing up on the background layer where I do not want it. I usually end up starting again making sure that I'm working on the layer where I want the text so I can save it as a transparent.png. I'll experiment. Thanks!
