Strange Pointer is now Appearing

Hello all. I don't know what I did but I now have a strange pointer appearing in my window when I try to enter text on a Vector layer. Can anyone tell me how to turn this off?

Does it stay there or does it eventually disappear? I have noticed that happening on occasion but it is more like a "ghost" artifact and once you zoom in/out or move the whole project left/right (if it is zoomed in enough), it disappears.

It disappears when I get out of the program. It doesn't appear on any other program, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
