VS ultimate 2023 keeps on freezing
Recently VS ultimate 2023 has been arbitrarily freezing up and I have to close it out with Task Manager. I can't see any particular action that makes this happen. I tried the "repair" procedure, but this a couple of times gave the display shown in the lower image. At the end, there was a message shown in the upper image. (I loaded them the wrong way round
.) I'm leery about removing VS and re-installing in case everything goes snafu. Any thoughts? At present I just "save" very frequently!

Re: VS ultimate 2023 keeps on freezing
Hi David
Problems with silent crashes or freezing can be caused by our video types, some iPhone videos using variable frame rates can cause issues.
So what type of video are you working with, and how complex is your project.
Using multiple FX filters on a single clip could cause issues.
Sometimes the program is very slow to process any changes / edits, viewing TaskManager may show the CPU doing some work for VS, maybe 30% but showing the program as Not Responding, in this case I give the process a little more time to recover, usually that works.
I work with MTS video from my Panasonic camera, Mp4 from a Sony camera non of which cause me problems.
And yes saving frequently is worth the effort, Ctrl+S is the easiest.
Re-Installing Video Studio usually works without problems, I would advise that you uninstall using Program and Features, then run the Cleanup_Tool to complete the task.
Of course this process will reset your library, but then again it could be the library content that causes issues.

Re: VS ultimate 2023 keeps on freezing
Had something similar to this at beginning of year. Some pointers in this thread https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=59847
After multiple re-installs still gave trouble, I eventually re-downloaded the installer fresh, renamed the documents folders (you can copy the contents over back mostly once you get it all working), rebooted and installed again and not had issue since. I think I ended up with some dodgy cache or documents path files at some point, so moving all old files to a backup and let it install into a cleaned out user profile did it for me. Be sure to install all older versions of VS and patch each in the order you got them originally so you get all the add-ons.
