VS9 ccrashes and need to re-insall?

Post by mauryw »

I have returned to VS9 after several months working on other audio projects. The Program boots and appears to run normally. I go to the capture page, and click on the top Camera Capture button, and the program crashes alerting me to an error log. Intalling the VS 9.1 patch does not fix this behavior. I figure that it needs to be reinstalled. When I run the VS9 exe, it tells me I need to uninstall the whole thing. I did that and run the VS9 exe agian, it tells me that it is an upgrade aqnd can not find an earlier version of VS on my computer.

HELP! How do I get there from here? Do a start over with VS8? Whcih was an upgrade, or do I have to start with my orignal version VS6, and upgarde succesively, or will the VS 9 upgrade do everything?

Thanks!!!

You can insert the CD for any previous full version of UVS during the installation, you do not have to install it first. If what you had before UVS 9 is an ESD (Electronic Software Download) version, then you'll have to contact Tech Support.

I recently had a similar experience and the answer from Ulead in the USA (in the end I called them from Australia) was that if VS8 was originally a trial version which was subsequently upgraded to a full version of VS8 and if VS9 upgrade is downloaded (as THoff says as an ESD) it cannot recognise or find the third party enabled version of VS8.

Ulead use 'Softwrap' to turn trials into fully featured versions, unfortunately, upgraded versions do not recognise the 'Softwrap' code or number and therefore do not recognise the previous version to upgrade.

I was given an ftp link from USA to download the full VS9 version which solved my situation.
