VS2023 has corrupted the length of my trimmed video clips
Edited a simple video in VS2023. Rendered to original format (MTS) but got video and no audio. Re-rendered in mpeg4, but on playback the video kept freezing at the end of each clip. Examined the timeline and discovered that VS2023 has elongated each video clip beyond its original length (see image below). Discovered I had inadvertently saved the corrupted file so now have to re edit the whole thing. With the previous version (VS2020) I had a constant battle to get it to render correctly (and without crashing) but I never had VS mess with my project itself - this is a new one! Anyone else ever had anything like this?

Hi ClanMac ... VS Ultimate 21 does the same thing ... my workaround is to edit/ render every single video section then join all edited videos in a final render ... this crap is why never pay more than $25 AUD for updates as the program is unrealiable

Re: VS2023 has corrupted the length of my trimmed video clips
Hi ClanMac
And welcome to the forums
Yes I am aware of the blue frames, for me they are created when trimming our clips or inadvertently dragging the trim bar.
I have never had these blue frames added without me trimming the clip.
Selecting the end yellow trim bar we can drag left to remove / trim the end frames, we can then if we wish drag right to replace those frames, using earlier versions of VS replaces the video only, for later versions we can drag further beyond the end of the video, doing this creates duplicate frames which show as blue. Unintentionally adding these frames is wrong and should not be allowed to happen.
To remove the duplicate frames is unfortunately a manual approach, dragging the end to trim would also remove some video frames, go to the navigation controls below the preview screen, pressing the End button, may need 2 presses moves the cursor to the end of Video, (view bar below preview screen) pressing F4 or mark-out bracket will replace the missing video frames.
Unfortunately this will affect the timeline sync so ripple editing could be used.
I would suggest to trim the ends we use the Mark-in Mark-out F3-F4 to remove /add frames, this avoids duplicate frames.
I believe this is the first time this problem has been reported on the forums even though it has been around for a while.
Rapscallion, if you have seen this problem in the past have you reported to Corel Support, only by reporting problems will Corel be aware of the extent of the problem.
