Making own camera profiles

Post by Pepi »

Hi,
Has anybody got a wild idea to make own Camera profiles for After Shot 3? I have asked few times from Corel if there are any hopes to get profile for Canon EOS R6 M2, but radio silence..

It looks like Corel would not make new camera profiles to AS, so I started to play with it by my own. When going to folder:
"%userprofile%\pictures\AfterShot 3 Cache\Cameras (64-bit)"
I could find the profiles I have uploaded to it, so I took one of already existing and copied folder to name: canon_eos_r6m2.afcamera, I updated the file: "Info.afpxml" to look like my camera and renamed the file under ISS to "canon_eos_r6m2.icc".
After that I was able to open the RAW files from my camera. Of course colors where not correct.

Then I started to read the file canon_eos_r6m2.icc and looks like they are using so called "Argyll target" profiling. I'm quite sure that if I'm getting the values between:
BEGIN_DATA
END_DATA
section correctly for my camera, the images will be perfect. Yes, that is binary file, and would make some challenges :)

But has anybody else tried to get your own cameras to work with After Shot if there has been no profile available?

I asked from Canon as well, if they would be able to share the profile details, but they asked: "what printer you are working with.." :D

This cannot be rocket science, so it should be possible somehow to get it done.
