VS2023 will not Launch

Up until today, there has been no issue with VS2023 build 136, but this morning the program fails to launch.

Launched VS2018, no problems everything working correctly,
Launched VS2022, no problems everything working correctly, EXCEPT, that VS 2022 does not show in Programs and Features, nor does it show in Settings/Apps, not too bothered with that at the moment, easy enough to uninstall.

Uninstalled VS2023, then ran the Cleanup Tool, reinstalled VS2023 allowing the program to download a fresh copy, also included Bonus Pack installation, launched program and splash screen for account info. appeared, completed, splash screen disappeared, then tried to launch program, double clicked on icon, absolutely nothing, completely dead.
Again uninstalled VS 2023, ran Cleanup Tool, then reinstalled, this time excluding Bonus Pack installation, launched program and again, splash screen for account info. appeared, completed, splash screen disappeared, then tried to launch program, double clicked on icon, this time got an Exclusive in-product offer splash screen, closed and double clicked icon, result, again absolutely nothing.
The splash screen for FastFlick appears, but does not proceed.

So, what do I try next, ideas anyone !!!

I have problems running X10, will only run by Run as Administrator, you could try that.
Any recent windows updates?

I’II boot my pc to check my version of 2023.

2023 no problems....
Comment on another post suggested Virus Protection could cause this so just viewed Bitdefender Critical Notifications, only one showing from a while ago.
No indication of Video Studio or why the message.....

I cleared that and now X10 ran first time, go figure…

maybe worth checking your Virus Protection program?

When this happened, Robert, did you look to see what Task Manager told you? Was VS, for instance, still active in Background Processes?

FWIW, on this computer I have VS 2021, 2022 and 2023. All three still show in Control Panel > Programs and Features. And I just sequentially opened all three, which all fully loaded and appeared on screen. I might note that with VS 2021, when I closed it, I got a promotional offer for 2023, and I had to kill that in Task Manager in both the Apps section (which still showed VS 2021 as being there, despite it disappearing from screen) as well as in Background Processes (where it showed as the Corel Update Helper).

Trevor, Running as Administrator makes no difference, according to update history, last Windows Update was on 13.09.2023
Ken, whenever problems occur with VS, I open Task Manager and leave it open, to ensure that there are no VS programs open in Background Processes.

In all years I have had VS, this is the first time the program has failed to launch after a full reinstallation.

Just as a check, I installed VS2021, no problems whatsoever, launched within a few seconds, so the issue with VS2023 would appear to be with vstudio.exe

vstudio.exe for VS2018/2021 & 2022 can also be launched from the desktop icons as well as their respective folders in C:\ProgramFiles\Corel\Corel Video Studio but VS2023 cannot launch from either location.

Trevor, where would I locate a working copy of vstudio.exe for VS2023 that could be substituted

Weird. This has happened to me, too! The last time VS2023 worked was on 23 Sept, and then yesterday I tried to fire it up again, and got the splash for a bit, then nothing. Since then I don't even get the splash. Fortunately, VS2022 is still installed, and it works, so I can start work on my channel's next video, but what's up with VS2023?

After making a video yesterday using VS2022 and posting it on my personal channel (see Here), today, just out of idle shrugging my shoulders, I tried double-clicking on my VS2023 Ultimate icon.

It worked.

I had not tried uninstalling, re-installing, slamming my laptop to pieces, or anything. In fact, I was just getting ready to uninstall VS2023 in order to re-install it. Now... I'm shaking my head.

What the heck?

This afternoon, turned on the PC and VS2023 launched and continues to launch, started adding the Bonus Features until all are installed and VS still launches.

So, no idea what happened in the meantime, but with Cberherbalist also now being able to launch, it becomes very strange indeed

I'm mystified yet again, because after posting that it was working again, a week or so later after I started work on the next video for my YouTube channel, from one day to the next the problem recurred. I'd double click the shortcut and it would appear to start, but would never actually get going. Growing frustrated, I deleted the shortcut and went back to VS 2022. Of course I had to start creating the formerly partly finished video over from scratch. And now, just a few minutes ago I wanted to ask an unrelated question, I saw your response, and decided to see if starting VS 2023 from the Start menu would work this time. And, frustratingly, it DID!

But I don't trust it. I'm going to continue to work with VS 2022 until maybe the next version of Video Studio.
