I am following a previous suggestion about adding text to photos. In this instance I have a whole bunch of images (clippings from historical newspapers) in which I thought it would be good to put the date the paper was originally published.
To do this I thought I would increase the canvas size by a small amount at the bottom of the image and then add the text there. Unfortunately (1) all the images are different sizes and (2) the tool defaults to the 'last image size used'. That means that both the height and width need to be manually entered into the dimensions used by the tool.
Is there a setting, or a way, that the tool could be set to default to the current image dimensions so that I would need to adjust only a single value (the height)?
If percent was one of the options then this would be easy - just change the percent value of one setting - put unfortunately this is not a measure that is available.

Re: defaults in "canvas size..."
Don't use canvas size to change the dimensions. Instead use the Add Borders command and set the Top, Left and Right boxes to 0 and set the Bottom box to the width you want to increase the Size by. Then add your text to the new bottom border.

Re: defaults in "canvas size..."
That's an idea. I presume then I'll still be able to put text onto the border... I'll give it a go.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: defaults in "canvas size..."
Yes, add borders command flattens the image so you can easily add text to the new bottom border.
