Hello all,
I'm making a documentary with VS2023 lasting about an hour and, for ease of production, I'm creating about 5-6 projects which I will combine into a single film at the end. Now I was wondering if to join the various MP4 movies I made I could use the same VS, putting them one after the other on the timeline and render them, or this would make me lose quality due to double compression. If so, what could be a good alternative to carry out this assembly without losing quality?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Merge multiple projects into a single movie
Rendering each of your projects to separate video, then adding each video to a new project is one option, this of course would need another render to combine those videos, yes that may impact on quality but i doubt we would notice this provided the project and render settings are the same.
There is an option to use nesting, where we can insert our individual project vsp’s to the timelines
First we have to import the vsp to the media library, in the same way as inserting our video.
Now we can drag each VSP to the timeline, take note of the tool tip, holding shift drops the vsp as a single flattened clip, otherwise will drop to show all clips.
You can now build up your master project to render once.
There may be some limitations on the edits you have applied, whether nesting can be used?
I would have to check that, but thinking of mercalli filters
