Truth or rumor?

Post by Amir23 »

Hello

A few months ago, in a topic, a man with the username Davidk claimed that the release of Pinnacle Studio was stopped forever! He further said that due to what happened to Pinnacle, the 2024 version of VideoStudio software will not be released either!

I wanted to know if the claim made by this person is true or a rumor?

I don't comment on Pinnacle Studio, but if Alludo stops releasing VideoStudio forever, it will be doing a very wrong thing!!!

Correct! I made no such statement. In the past I have posted about Corel asserting that Pinnacle and Videostudio not being "integrated" - cited: company release some years ago. Please provide a link to the statement you say says this.

Nowhere in that post did David state that VideoStudio is being discontinued.

Just to set the context correctly . .
Earlier this year (2023) in the face of a looming US recession, Corel laid off a lot of staff - developer people. They were not the only ones - MS is reported to have fired 10,000 people - and it was apparently the "thing to do in US corporates". The recession has not eventuated, and caught short (insufficient staff to execute a new version release this year) Corel has finally begun addressing the long reported bug issues in Video studio using the software engineers they still have. Users have pleaded here in this forum for this to happen for years. Corel has been doing this with Pinnacle (another editor they own) in the form of patch update, and we expect they will be doing it similarly for VS as well. The release cycle is normally Pinnacle Jul/Aug, VS early in the year (late feb) - which matches Corel's known actions so far: I believe the patch for pinnacle was released a week or so ago. But so far, a deafening silence on intentions for VS
