Purchased VideoStudio 2021 in 2021 and have been happy with the program using it ever since... last week however, my computer finally gave up the ghost. I had been wanting to upgrade to a better machine for video editing so I did some research and finally landed on the HP ZBook Studio G9 with 32GB of RAM and an NVIDIA 12GB video card (Windows 11 Pro). The laptop just arrived and I installed VideoStudio 2021 on the machine. First install stopped before completing and gave me an error "We encountered a problem while installing. Please contact Technical Support." So I sent an email to them...
The next day I just decided to try the install again and everything went smoothly. No errors. Went to go launch the program and it stayed on the splash screen for several minutes then finally came up where I could see the edit screen and the menus. I went to go add a video file for a new project and the program just disappeared! Tried to re-launch and it disappeared again just after reaching the edit screen. Restarted the laptop to no avail. Any suggestions? This is a BRAND NEW laptop...

welcome to the forums
Sorry to hear you are having these problems.
First can I ask were you running windows 11 on your old PC or W10.
There were some reports when trying to start 2021 on windows 11, one post here:-
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=390950#p390950
and a longer post
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?p=390621#p390621
I did not receive any update on these issues.
I did notice the above poster was using a similar graphics card (NVIDIA RTX Graphics Card)
Another problem that did arise was the installation of the New Blue filters with recommendations to uninstall those immediately after installation from here, C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers
Ok
This is the program reset folder, rename the 24.0 folder to 24.0_old
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)
Does the program run, will take a while to clear the splash screen.
However
I would suggest you re-install the program without the Bonus Features, that would omit the New Blue filters.
Use the Cleanup tool to remove the program, download from here:-
https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=59847
After uninstallation check that New Blue has also been removed C:\Program Files\NewBlueFX\uninstallers
Installation…..
Whilst running the web installer choose the Custom option, deselect Bonus Features.
When running the program immediately after install, as you have noticed, will take a while to clear the splash screen, that is normal.
The program is completing installation by populating the reset folder, and probably a few more system files.
It is possible that there is a conflict with the graphics card.
If the program now launches, I would deselect all Hardware Acceleration options, press F6 – then Performance tab.
Assuming the program now runs without to many issues then you can try applying the Hardware Acceleration.
If ok, try installing the Bonus Features.
and your installed version should be 24.1.0.299 for the Ultimate version.
I do not know if Corel provided any hot fixes for these issues, as I say we had no feedback from any reports, hopefully Corel will reply to your e_mail

Re: VideoStudio 2021 disappears?! HELP
Thank you Trevor. I was running Windows 10 Pro on the prior machine. I did try and remove the New Blue stuff to no avail. I have another laptop here with Win 11 Pro that I am going to try and install the software on just to see if it will run (for what it's worth). The other laptop does not have the horsepower to do what I want to do, but at least that will get me closer to figuring out the problem. This is really frustrating because I don't want to have to switch to another video editing program and go through the learning process all over again.

Re: VideoStudio 2021 disappears?! HELP
Hi BoostedGTA. Just a possibility, but. Some video clips, depending on what they were shot on, may cause VS to crash unless you convert them or work around them by configuring your computer. As usual try other clips to see if the same happens. Does it do this if you use the example stock clips that come with VideoStudio? Does your computer have low storage space maybe? In the past I have just used ffmpeg to convert clips, but there are GUI apps that do a decent converting job - I have also in the past had to install codecs before some of my clips would work. But all this will only help if the stock clips in VS work, but your own videos are causing the crash.
hope that together we have given yo ua few things to give a go.

Re: VideoStudio 2021 disappears?! HELP
Thanks for the reply. It doesn't even really let me get to the point of importing a clip to work with... Most of the time I disappears before I can even click on anything. And this is a brand new computer with plenty of storage space (500GB free). Corel support has not replied and I am about to the point of moving on.zaphodikus wrote: ↑Mon Sep 04, 2023 9:30 pm Hi BoostedGTA. Just a possibility, but. Although you uninstalled new blue, did you try re-installing video studio without the Bonus Features
You did not say if installing on another laptop worked.

Yes, I reinstalled without the bonus features... no change. And it works on the other laptop, but that laptop will not handle the video files I work with (4K videos) so it's useless.
