Installing Updates to G drive instead of C

Post by CANMK »

I have my PSP 2023 installed to my G drive. But when I get notifications of updates available and proceed to download those updates, they automatically are written to my C drive.

Problem is that the updates don't actually integrate with my PSP 2023 installation on my G drive, so I actually don't get the updates reflected in the program when I open it back up the next time.

How do I steer the updates to the G drive so everything is working as it should?

Thanks in advance

Hi CANMK,
I'm sorry to know your update process cannot work on your system. We've tried to install the main program (PSP2023) under D:\ drive and confirmed the update process is working well. Could you share more information for reference? Is your "G:\ Drive" an external drive or an internal drive? Can you share your installed path for reference?

Cheers

Hello Joseph,

My G Drive is an external drive.

I think this is my path:

G:\Programs\PaintshopPro\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro 2023\Setup

Hi CANMK,
We just realized when PSP2023 was installed on an external drive and kept in an "Open" state to get the update2 installation, an error message will pop up during the update process to terminate the update. Can you let me know if PSP2023 is alive in the background in your case? If so, please close PSP2023 before you trigger the update process.

Currently, the update file cannot detect the PSP program if it is installed on an external drive. I have to say it's a trivial issue since we don't suggest installing the main program on an external drive since it may bring some unexpected problems. Hope the above observation is helpful to you.

Cheers

I have a similar problem with the latest Update 2 for Corel PaintShop Pro 2023 Ultimate.
In my system, all Corel Programs are installed to drive D, in a D:\Corel folder. The Windows Temp folder is set to D:\Temp. It could be that that combination is causing the installation to get stuck, as it's happening on two computers with the same folder setup.
The installation unpacks the setup files to D:\Temp\Corel PaintShop Pro 2023\25.2.0.58, runs them, then a window saying "Initializing the Installation Wizard" shows up with the progress bar slowly moving to the fully completed state (bar filled). Then it gets stuck, and nothing happens.
This is the first time that I encountered such a problem with a PaintShop pro installation or update. I always had both Corel apps and the WIndows Temp folder set to drive D, as mentioned above.
I tried to copy the setup files to a different drive and run the installation from that drive, but got the same behavior, that is, the installation gets stuck after completing the first progress bar in the "Initializing the Installation Wizard".
I don't know if my folder setup is the cause. I would appreciate suggestions on different approaches to try. Thank you.

Hi Rico-M,
Basically, as long as the PSP installed location isn't an external drive on your system, then you don't need to "create" a temp folder within the same drive. PSP installer will detect the installed program and unzip the package to the proper "Temp" folder automatically. It means the update process is supposed to run normally.

Josephlin, thank you for the clarification about install locations for PS Pro.

Any suggestions on what can I try for the latest update to work?

Thanks again.
