Display corrupts and MSP7.3 program crashes

Post by Scenestealer »

I have been experiencing a problem since I installed MSP7 with SP3 where the program main window freezes, often when opening the help window from say a sub window and then corrupts when attempting to close help or the smaller window. By corrupt I mean parts of the help window close but part of it remains visible where it overlaying the sub window underneath. Sometimes say, the image from the preview window or thubnails from part of the timeline end up in random places in some other part of the program window without their borders.
Often after this the windows message comes saying the progam must close, which it does. I have not seen this type of behaviour before with other NLE's or programs. Can anyone help please?

Specs are:-

P4 2.53Ghz
768M Ram
80 & 120Gb HD @7200
Matrox G550 with double head display
XP Pro SP1 with auto updates except SP2
DX8.1

Yep - I think that's current. The version number is right, although the date on their site is a bit later. They could be quoting the release date comapred to your compile date, though.

All I can suggest is you update your DirectX to the latest version. According to http://www.ulead.com/msp/sysreq.htm DX9 is needed.

Dang! There is a new version 5.95.0.5 just released - 02/09/05.
Now how did Matrox know that I had just installed a program that didnt work with their driver.......

What do you think the effect of not using DX9 with MSP7 would be?
It is just that I have a Magix program on my computer that recommends not using higher than DX8.1.
