How should I handle this

Post by e_a_g_l_e_p_i »

I just reinstalled my Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X10 and it downloaded and installed the program. When I opened it for the first time I got a page asking if I wanted to upgrade to the newer 2023 version for $59.95 which I accepted. I got the receipt via email. Then after I renewed when I went into the program it gave me the same upgrade offer but this time it was for $49.95???

Other questions,
Is there a way to do a fresh install of the VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 or will I have to install VideoStudio Ultimate X10 then the upgrade?

I haven's used VideoStudio very much and it's been a while since I used it, at least 3-4 years so I will have a lot of questions but thought i would start with these 2 first.
Thanks
Ron

No, you do not need to have VS10 installed, if VS10 is not installed, when you install VS2023 it will ask for a previous license number as well as the current one for VS2023 and of course, you can have both versions installed, only one version can be opened at a time.

Thanks, I am going to uninstall version X10 and wait to hear back from Corel about the price difference. I'd rather pay $49.99 for full version of the 2023 version than the $59.99 I did pay for the Upgrade. It was very strange how I get an offer for $59.99 for the upgrade and then after the purchase I get a offer for $49.99 for the full version.

I contacted Corel asking for a refund for the upgrade and I will buy the full version.

The upgrade and the full version are exactly the same product, just a price differential

You also need to check whether the price differential in the offers was because one is Ultimate (i.e. with the extras) and the other only Pro (without the extras)...

Hi ken,
yes they are the same product, only difference is one is a upgrade and the other full version. I'd rather have the full version for $10 cheaper than the upgrade. Hope Corel refunds me and I will buy the full version. Here are some screen captures. If you see any thing I missed please let me know.

On the full version price of $49.99, what price is offered if you click on the price dropdown button, that should give a further price reduction

Looks like they have their prices mixed up.
I checked from UK and full version is £10 more than the Upgrade which you would expect.

I was able to get the refund for the $59.99 upgrade, then I purchased the full version of Videostudio ultimate 2023.

When I installed it as when I installed X10 before it puts a folder for videostudio on my desktop with 5 other programs that came with it. Why does it put the main folder on my desktop ? can I create a new folder and move all the desktop stuff Videostudio ultimate 2023 into it? will that cause any issues?

Hi Ron

When we download the installation folders they use the desktop as the default location.
There is an option to choose any location on our pc, you missed that, not to worry....
Yes you can move the download folders to any where on your pc, no problems.
I also save the small web installer file to this folder along with a notepad .txt with the serial number.

You are not the first person to be confused by the special offer, so don't worry you are not alone Eaglepi.
Be sure to keep an archive of the installer as Trevor wrote. I have managed to not keep all my old installers sadly.

Yes I saved all mine also. going back to 3.4 and 5x versions. This time I created a folder on my desktop that I moved all the installed programs that install with VideoStudio Ultimate 2023 folder that was created during the install. There was also a 64 bit install folder created on my desktop that I moved into the main VideoStudio folder on my desktop that I will be moving to a drive I use for storage and backup on a regular basis. Ill have a shortcut to my desktop and I think that will work fine for me. I was concerned about moving the folders and programs to another place other than the desktop but was told above that I can move them without causing problem..

We can download the web installer files from Corel Support pages here
https://www.videostudiopro.com/en/pages/download/
and indeed download any version provided we have the serial number, to download the installation files again we have first to uninstall the program.
