What is the version number you see? You should see 25.2.x.x (those Xs might be 0.58, but the 25 (2023) and 2 (update 2) are the important parts)
Given that your program is also crashing, you may be best to re-install the program.
Downloading the installation files again should give you the new updated version.

I click on the link download then open the file. Then the Installation Wiz runs and the status bar goes all the way to the right. After a minute or so I get a window that says No update of your installed software is required at this time. Click OK then get a window that says the update wasn't installed and there was a fatal error. Yesterday (Friday afternoon) I emailed Corel support but haven't heard back yet.

Anyone else have this issue?
Hi
Sometimes Windows updates may affect the update function for PSP, it's a little complicated issue and happened randomly. To help you to get the new Update2 version quickly, I would suggest you can uninstall your PSP2023 and install it using the installer that you had via the purchase process. Ocen it's done, the update2 version is ready on your system.

Cheers

Hi Joseph,

Thanks for your reply. As well as everyone else who offered solutions.

I called Corel support a little while ago (1:00 AM EST) and spoke with Kevin Jean-Charles who within a few minutes had the problem resolved.

Good way to start the week.

Hi Jim, Could you share the solution as it may help others. Did you do an uninstall/reinstall or something else? Thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy,

While I could download the update I couldn't get it to install. So I did an uninstall of 25.1.0.28X64 and downloaded the current version 25.2. But I couldn't get that to install. I don't know what the problem was. While it's not a very difficult task maybe somehow it was operator error. I really don't know.

So I called support. Kevin sent me a link and I downloaded and installed the current version. Easy as pie.

Is there a way to roll back PSP 2023 to pre-patched state?
Ever since the recent updates were installed, I've had a lot of lag, freezing, and a hot laptop keyboard. I've had to stop using it and return to 2018. 2018 on the same laptop gives me none of those problems.
If I reinstall 2023 will it arrive as it was when I purchased it, or will it arrive with those patches?
Editing to add:
I have v. 25.2.0.58 currently.

The default web installer always installs the fully patched version. You need a downloaded copy of the installation files to install a non-patched version.

I too have had nothing but issues since putting in the patch. Merge down, causing a crash. Trying to use blend modes causing crashes. Changing text from vector to raster, removes the line returns. Had support go through my system, and still issues. We are doing a total uninstall and reinstall to see if that works. I have none of these issues with 2021.

Thank you for your input. This makes me very sad because it is the worst time of year for this to happen as I have fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas image deadlines. I don't recall registering for automatic updates, but if I did I'll never do that with PSP again.

Just a follow-up:

I decided to contact Support because I figured it was their problem to fix.
Basically, they had me clean up Windows, remove all of the Message folders, rename the Corel directory to .old and overwrite it.
I run Disk Cleanup regularly so I know that wasn't the problem. Apparently, it was "remants" (I'll use that word to be polite) created by Corel.

At this point there are two Message.policy files (one for each of my two Corel products). Both have the default Value set to "opt-out".
I'll see if it sticks.

Perhaps it was partly my fault because I didn't want to make any changes to PSP configurations/Messages etc. when I installed it in April. I usually do that with new software so I can see how it performs on its own in the beginning. Everything was fine, coincidence or not, until the patches arrived.

I realize Alludo is a business and that revenue is important in order to keep the prices down and provide service. However, if the ads are inevitable with new installs, providing the customer with additional instructions up front, other than just a reset might free up the support staff a bit. If there is a FAQ for this I missed it. I still miss having a Jasc hardcopy manual in my lap as I work. 8)

--------------------------
Edit: I spoke too soon. As soon as I worked in PSP2023 today the message folder began filling. (Yes, I've unchecked them in the UI.) By the time there were about 6 messages in there my computer was as hot as a baked potato and slowing down. The only thing I can do is delete messages daily. What a pain! If anyone knows another solution, please let me know.

I'm not having any problems with the update, but when I try haze removal, I am informed that the image must be demoted to 8-bit RGB.

This seems like a poor and unnecessary restriction.

I'm having a lot of "crashing" too. I'm not 100% sure it is related to the new release as I'm doing things that I've not done before but certainly it is happening now.

I've been following suggestions in my 'cleanup' question (https://forum.corel.com/viewtopic.php?t=70356). Sometimes if I don't find the result very satisfactory I 'undo' back to the original image then try something else (i.e. click the 'adjust' tab); boom, I'm dead in the water.

Clearly some issues. (I'm not holding my breath on a 2024 version for this problem. I've been fooled before).

I did an uninstall and reinstall with support, and so far all is good. Hopefully this fixed my crashing issues.
